FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SOURCING & QUALITY-
Where do you source your raw ingredients?
Our commitment is to source locally whenever possible. Most of our meats come from pastured, free-range farms in Lancaster County, PA. In cases where local sourcing isn't available year-round, we supplement with high-quality meats from trusted suppliers across the U.S., never compromising on ethics, quality or safety. Our products are free from antibiotics, added hormones, steroids, and chemicals.
Is your food nutritionally complete and balanced?
Yes. Our recipes are formulated to be complete and balanced for dogs/cats according to recognized nutritional AAFCO guidelines. Each recipe includes muscle meat, organs, bone, and essential nutrients from whole food sources.
Do I need to add supplements?
No additional supplements are needed when feeding our complete and balanced meals (mixes).
If you're feeding our single proteins (blends) we recommend frequent rotation or combination of protein sources to achieve a balance of nutrition over time.
If a single protein is intended to be fed long term, adding supplements is recommended.
How is your food processed?
We keep things simple. Our products are made without high-pressure processing (HPP), bacteriophages, denatured meats, or "4D" meats.
RAW FOOD BASICS-
What is "Whole Animal Nutrition?"
Whole animal nutrition is an approach to feeding that uses muscle meat, organs, and bones—just as nature intended. By using the entire animal, pets receive naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fats that support optimal digestion and overall health without relying on synthetic supplementation.
What are the raw pet food PMR and BARF diets?
PMR (prey model raw) diets emphasize feeding whole prey (ie. whole fish, whole rabbits, etc) including roughly 80% muscle meats, 10% bones, and 10% organs.
BARF (biologically appropriate raw food) diets, created by Dr. Ian Billinghurst, are an animal-based diet with meat, bones, and organs, but also incorporate plant matter like fruits and veggies to provide fiber and boost variety and nutrients.

GETTING STARTED-
How much should I feed my pet?
Portion sizes depend on many different factors. Most adult dogs eat 2–3% of their body weight per day. Cats usually eat 2–4%.
For more accurate feeding, check our canine raw feeding calculator.
How do I transition my pet to raw food?
We recommend a gradual transition:
-
Days 1–3: 25% raw / 75% current food
-
Days 4–6: 50% raw / 50% current food
-
Days 7–9: 75% raw / 25% current food
-
Day 10: 100% raw
Some pets can switch faster, but slow transitions help avoid digestive upset.
Can I mix raw food with kibble?
Yes, but it's best to feed them in separate meals for optimal digestion. Some pets tolerate mixing well, while others do better with separate feedings.
RAW FOOD HANDLING & SAFETY-
Is raw feeding safe for my pet?
Yes, when properly prepared and handled. Sourcing high-quality meats and maintaining proper freezing temperatures help us ensure safe raw food makes it to your pets food bowl. Safe handling at home—just like with raw meat for humans—is important too.
What is the best way to thaw your foods?
We recommend thawing our raw food slowly in the refrigerator or at room temperature. If you're short on time, sealed tubs of food can be placed in cool water to speed up the process. Avoid using a microwave, as it can compromise both food quality and nutritional integrity.
How long does the food stay good once thawed?
Once thawed, our raw food can typically be safely stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For optimal freshness, keep food sealed and refrigerated between feedings and keep any portions that won't be used within 5 days frozen.
Can I thaw and refreeze?
Yes, our food can be thawed and refrozen one time. For best quality, refreeze promptly after thawing. Multiple freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended.
Will my pet get sick from bacteria?
Healthy pets have highly acidic stomachs designed to handle raw food. While no diet is risk-free, proper handling and quality sourcing greatly reduce risk. If your pet has a compromised immune system, consult your veterinarian first. Gently cooked or freeze-dried fresh meals are next best options.
What if raw feeding isn't right for my pet?
Raw feeding isn't one-size-fits-all. We're happy to help you explore alternatives, like freeze-dried, or discuss how to use our raw products gently cooked. We're glad to help find what's best for your pet!
